And then I found $20....
So today Alli, Jane and I set out on what we thought was going to be an hour run. After a few slips on icy paint creek we decided to make the turn on Brewster and dominate the hill. As we were making our way back down Walton to Al's I look down and see a $20 BILL!!! Naturally, Alli and I scream and use it as an excuse to go chow down at The Mills, delicious!!

Day 1 down...
Kelsey, Alli and I started off our official training today (Foundation week 1, day 1) with a swim at OU after class...a little stroke work, and a realization of how much more we have to swim to make the 2.4 miles but all in all great first day....day #1 down!!

Let the training begin...
Masters work to do? Yes. Screw it, let's plan for the Ironman!
Al and I spent the day creating binders that will log the next 11 months of our training. Sounds like a simple task, but we had to be hardcore and made monthly, weekly and daily logs to track our training (and don't forget the cover, side design, and tabs).
We found a 36 week plan online that we are going to use as a guide for our training. However, we are 44 weeks out and it's time to start crackin' at the weights and base training...so tomorrow when we (Kelsey, Alli and I) meet for a swim after class the 1st of many ironman workouts begins! YEA BABY!

576 dollars later....
It's official! The countdown to becoming an Ironman may begin! Road trip to Madison to watch IM 2009 = success. Honestly, watching the finish was probably one of the most amazing sights I have seen in my 24 years. I am officially motivated and ready to take on this challenge (I better be...the credit card has already been charged).
More to come on the beginning of our IM journey!

Don't you wish your girlfriend was an Ironman-in-training like me?
An attempt to capture our year-long journey of becoming Ironmen, yes men, not women. Ironwoman just doesn't sound as cool.
As of today, August 19, 2009, we have had 2 bike fall-offs, a shoe that would not unclip thus resulting in a near bike fall-off, a subsequent broken cleat, an inadequate and g-hetto bike rack carrying our $1000++ super snazzy bikes 300 miles up north, a purchase of a new bike rack to calm my nerves on our next trip, 3 sets up 50 pushups (split between three girls) for either knocking our bikes over or falling off bikes, a super huge crush on the bike shop guy, frequent visits to bike shop to either a) fix our bikes, b) crush on our crush, or c) all of the above.
It's going to be an amazing journey and we'll do our best at capturing these moments here on our blog!
